The IPL 2025 season has faced an unprecedented halt due to escalating war tensions between India and Pakistan. The situation reached a critical point during the match between Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Delhi Capitals (DC) in Dharamshala on May 8th, when armed forces ordered the cancellation of the ongoing game.
The IPL authorities, including the chairman, urged fans to leave the stadium promptly, citing security concerns amid the tense geopolitical climate. As a result, the remaining fixtures of IPL 2025 have been suspended indefinitely, casting uncertainty over the season’s continuation.

Given the current circumstances, the resumption of IPL 2025 appears challenging in the immediate aftermath. Initially, there was speculation about scheduling more double-headers in the last ten days of May to complete the tournament quickly. However, with the ongoing security concerns and the suspension of matches, this plan now seems unlikely.
Looking ahead, the most plausible window for resuming IPL 2025 is in August. The upcoming international cricket schedule suggests that the Bangladesh tour, traditionally held in the same period, will likely be postponed or rescheduled to accommodate the IPL.
Notably, the only major series during this period is the England vs. South Africa white-ball series, which leaves a gap in the calendar for IPL matches.

Alternatively, September presents a promising window for the league’s return. With approximately two weeks of available time as there is possibility that there would be no Asia Cup this year.
Hence, the IPL organizers could plan to complete the remaining fixtures before the end of the month. This timeframe would allow for a smooth conclusion to the season, provided security and logistical arrangements are finalized.
