As IPL 2025 reaches its final stage, with Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Punjab Kings (PBKS) set to clash on Tuesday, June 3rd at Ahmedabad for the title, a new champion is on the verge of being crowned—a team that has never lifted the trophy before.

However, amidst the excitement, some familiar faces have appeared to be playing their last innings in the IPL. Several players, once prominent, seem to have faded from the limelight, showing signs of weariness and declining form. Here are five players who may have played their final IPL seasons.

Vijay Shankar: Bought by Chennai Super Kings (CSK) for 1.20 crores, Shankar was seen as a promising all-rounder. Unfortunately, his performance this season has been disappointing. In 6 matches, he scored only 69 runs, with just one fifty, highlighting his struggle with the bat. Given his current form, it is unlikely he will attract significant bids in the next auction.

Glenn Maxwell: Known for his explosive batting and handy bowling, Maxwell has been a key player for Punjab Kings. However, his recent form has been lackluster—scoring only 48 runs in 7 matches and taking 4 wickets.

Compounding his woes, Maxwell announced his retirement from ODI cricket today. He even left IPL 2025 in mid-season citing a finger injury. His inconsistent performance suggests he may not feature in future IPL seasons.

Quinton de Kock: The South African opener, who played 8 matches for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), scored just 152 runs, including one fifty. His current form has raised questions about his future participation in the IPL, and his spot in upcoming seasons appears uncertain.

Ishant Sharma: The seasoned Indian fast bowler has contributed significantly to Indian cricket but is now struggling in the shortest format. In 7 matches, he managed only 4 wickets and conceded 205 runs. Given his recent performances, he seems poised to remain unsold in the next auction.

Andre Russell: The all-rounder has been a game-changer in past seasons, but this year he has struggled to find consistency. Playing 13 matches, he scored 167 runs and took 8 wickets. His batting form is a concern, and while his bowling remains reliable, his overall performance suggests he may not feature prominently in future IPL editions.
