Just over a month ago it was announced by the BCCI President Sourav Ganguly that the new-selection committee will select the team for the South Africa ODIs, and the New Zealand tour will be the last one for MSK Prasad-led committe. But with recent development from our sources it is confirmed that the old committee will continue as for now and the last series of the season i.e. Three-match ODI series against South Africa will be announced by the old committee.
On 2nd February it was a statement from BCCI that the new selection committee will soon take over the office and will start it task from the ODI series against South Africa, and the new selection committee will be selected by the Cricket Advisory Committee(CAC). The members of the CAC were also named comprising of Madan Lal, RP Singh and Sulakshana Naik. However, it has been notified that the CAC members are yet to have informed about their complete roles and thus there has been no progress in the appointment of the new selection committee. February 15th was the last date of shortlisting of names for the selection committee with some famous names as Ajit Agarkar and Venkatesh Prasad throwing their hat in the ring. But it has been two weeks since then with no progress about it.
As the series is only 10 days away from now, hence by 5th March the ODI squad will be announced and from the sources it is confirmed that the new selection committee will be announced between IPL-2020 and will take over from the immediate assignment after the IPL Season.
So let’s see how Mr. Prasad ends his tenure!!
