India aim to bag one more Test Series win at home

India will be high on confidence for the upcoming test series after they swept New Zealand in three match T20I Series. The last outing vs New Zealand in tests wasn’t a pleasant one for India. The two teams last encountered in the finals of World Test Championship and New Zealand defeated India by 8 wickets to clinch the maiden World Test Championship.

Coach Rahul Dravid who has begun his stint with a 3-0 sweep of New Zealand in the T20I series, aim to see the test squad perform in same manner. This is for the first time Rahul Dravid will be coaching the senior men’s cricket team for a test series. Previously, at many occasions he has coached India A teams for Test Matches.

Head to Head : India Vs New Zealand in Tests

The teams have faced each other in 24 Test Series. 13 of the the total 24 have been won by India, and New Zealand won just 8 of them. The other three series ended in a draw.

India lead the head-to-head record in Test matches against New Zealand by 21-13. The two teams have played a total of 60 Test matches, with 26 of them ending in a draw.

In recent times, New Zealand have had a better record against India. New Zealand are on a three-match winning streak against India in Test cricket. India outperformed New Zealand, when they last visited the sub-continent, winning the three match test series by 3-0.

The opening Test starts from November 25th and will be played at the Green Park Stadium in Kanpur, while the second Test will be held at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai from December 7. The two games will start at 9:30 AM IST.

New Zealand’s Test squad : Kane Williamson (c), Tom Blundell (wk), Devon Conway, Kyle Jamieson, Tom Latham, Henry Nicholls, Ajaz Patel, Glenn Phillips, Rachin Ravindra, Mitchell Santner, Will Somerville, Tim Southee, Ross Taylor, Will Young, Neil Wagner.

Virat Kohli will join the squad before the second test in Mumbai and will also be leading the Indian side. Vice Captain Ajinkya Rahane will captain the Indian team once again in absence of Virat Kohli in Kanpur. Ajinkya Rahane also led the team in the historic Test Series win in Australia after India were 1-0 down.

Shreyas Iyer, off-spinner Jayant Yadav, and Suryakumar Yadav have a slot for them in this Test Squad. Suryakumar Yadav has been included in the test squad as replacement for KL Rahul. KL Rahul has a muscle strain on his left thigh and will miss the Test series against New Zealand

Indian Squad looks more stronger and resolute than the visitors but Kiwis have Williamson and Taylor as experienced batters who can anchor the New Zealand innings, Indian fans will have an eye on Cheteshwar Pujara and Ajinkya Rahane, to act as solid anchors.

India will have the home advantage whereas Kiwis will be have their shoulders high due to their clinical win at the final of World Test Championship. Both the teams will also be eyeing on the points for the next World Test Championship as well. New Zealand is topping the ICC Test ranking with 126 rating and just behind them is India with 119 rating.
