THU 1:05 PM IST, Mirabai Chanu narrowly missed a bronze medal despite lifting 88kg in the Snatch and 111kg in the Clean and Jerk. She started strong with 85kg in the Snatch, but struggled with 88kg on her second attempt. She finished the Snatch in third place behind Hou Zhihui and Mihaela Valentina.


THU 1:00 PM IST, In the Clean and Jerk, Chanu faced tough competition and opened with a strong 111kg lift. Surodchana Khambao lifted 112kg, putting her at 200kg total. Cambei then lifted 112kg on her third attempt, putting her at 205kg and in the gold-medal position. Mirabai, with a total of 199kg with no medal.


THU 12:12 AM IST, There will be a short break before the clean and jerk portion begins. Mirabai excels in this category, holding a personal best of 119kg, though the current world record is 124kg.

• 11 PM: Mirabai Chanu in the women’s 49kg weightlifting. The reigning Olympic silver medalist, a medal today would make her India’s most successful weightlifter.

• 1:13 AM: Avinash Sable in the men’s 3000m steeplechase final. The Asian Games champion and Commonwealth Games silver medalist, Sable was the fifth fastest in the heats.
