Young Indian team has successfully secured a draw in the 5th Test against England, leveling the series at 2-2 in a thrilling five-match series played on English soil. This result marks a significant milestone as India’s Test team played the new WTC cycle’s first match under the young captain Gill when the team had no Virat, Rohit and Ashwin.

Looking ahead, the current Test series is part of the World Test Championship (WTC) 2025-2027 cycle, which was the first tour of India to England for a Test series during this period.

According to the current cricket calendar, India is unlikely to revisit England for Test cricket until the next WTC cycle begins, which is scheduled for 2029-2031. The next time the Indian team is expected to tour England for a Test series is therefore projected around 2029 or 2030.

Between now and then, both teams have a busy schedule filled with limited-overs series, including ODIs and T20Is scheduled for next year.

However, there is no official Future Tours Programme (FTP) announced for any upcoming Test series between India and England in the immediate future. If any gaps emerge in the cricket calendar or if any series get postponed due to unforeseen circumstances, the ICC might step in to adjust the schedule.

Such adjustments could see a series arranged in India, but there is no certainty that a bilateral Test series will occur in this current WTC cycle. In the broader cricketing landscape, fans can look forward to historic events like the Olympics 2028 in Los Angeles, where cricket will make its return in Olympics after long 128 years.

Additionally, mega tournaments such as the ICC Cricket World Cup 2027 and the T20 World Cup 2028 are already on the horizon, promising thrilling contests that will captivate cricket enthusiasts worldwide.
