In a thrilling encounter at the Nassau County Stadium in New York, India’s bowling unit led by Jasprit Bumrah’s sensational performance helped the team defend a target of 120 and defeat arch-rivals Pakistan by six runs in the T20 World Cup 2024. The victory was a testament to India’s strong bowling prowess, which proved to be the decisive factor in the match.
Pakistan’s chase got off to a good start, with Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan putting on 35 runs for the first wicket in the powerplay. However, Bumrah was unlucky to see a sitter dropped by Shivam Dube, which gave Rizwan a second life. The Indian pacer made no mistake in his second over, though, dismissing Babar Azam with a stunning catch by Suryakumar Yadav.
India’s bowling unit then went into overdrive in their 2nd T20 World Cup match, with Bumrah recording imperious figures of 3/14 and Hardik Pandya taking 2/24. The pressure mounted on Pakistan, and they eventually found themselves needing 18 runs to win off the last over. The target proved to be too steep, as India emerged victorious by six runs.
