Former Indian team captain Sourav Ganguly has revealed that it may take two years for wicket-keeper batsman Rishabh Pant to make a comeback for India. Sourav Ganguly is in a management role with Delhi Capitals for the upcoming IPL. He said that it would be difficult to fill Rishabh Pant’s place in Delhi Capitals.
Ganguly also told that it has not been decided yet who will be Pant’s replacement. The former batsman said that he spoke to Pant several times after the serious accident in December 2022. Ganguly said in a conversation with PTI, ‘I spoke to Pant many times. He is definitely going through a bad phase and I wish him well. In a year or a few years, he will return to play for India.’

Delhi Capitals are yet to announce Pant’s replacement. Ganguly is yet to decide who would be better between young Abhishek Porel or experienced Sheldon Jackson. Ganguly said, ‘We have time to find out. The next camp will start before the IPL. Delhi Capitals also have to search for the captain and David Warner is considered to be its strong contender.’
Delhi Capitals held a three-day training camp in Kolkata, which saw Prithvi Shaw, Ishant Sharma, Chetan Sakaria, Manish Pandey and other domestic players. Ganguly said, ‘There is still a month left in IPL and the season has just started. As much as cricketers are playing cricket, it is difficult to unite everyone. There are four or five players who will play Irani Trophy. Sarfaraz has hurt his finger, he will be fit till IPL.
