In an intense encounter during the third One Day International (ODI) match between India and Bangladesh women’s cricket teams, Indian captain Harmanpreet Kaur found herself at the center of a heated controversy.

In the 34th over of India’s innings, facing Nahida Akhtar, Harmanpreet was declared out by the on-field umpire after a strong appeal from the Bangladeshi team. Reacting to the decision, Harmanpreet appeared visibly shaken and expressed her dissatisfaction with the umpire’s call. However, her response went beyond just voicing her discontent.

Upon being given out, Harmanpreet, who had scored 14 runs by that point, defiantly struck the stumps with her bat, sending the bails flying. The Bangladeshi team made a strong appeal, and the on-field umpire upheld the decision, ruling her out. The dramatic gesture from the Indian captain shocked the spectators and created a tense atmosphere on the field.

Despite the controversial incident, the match continued, and Bangladesh had set a target of 225 runs for India by losing 4 wickets in their 50 overs. Fargana Haque was the standout performer for Bangladesh, scoring a brilliant century, and Shamiema Sultana contributed with 52 runs. India’s Sneh Rana took the most wickets, claiming two dismissals during her spell.

As the series stands at 1-1 after three ODIs, both India and Bangladesh’s women’s cricket teams have displayed competitive performances, creating an exciting contest for fans.

In the previous T20I series, India had triumphed 2-0 against Bangladesh, while the first ODI saw the hosts clinching a historic victory, marking India’s first defeat in a 50-over format.
