As per inside sources, Indian T20I captain, Hardik Pandya, and batsman, Shubman Gill, may be granted a break under workload management during the upcoming T20I series against Ireland, scheduled to commence from August 18.
The decision by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is being considered in light of the impending Asia Cup and the ODI World Cup.
Hardik Pandya plays a vital role as an integral member of the Indian ODI team, contributing with his all-round skills, and the team management and selectors are cautious about risking any potential injuries. With the ODI World Cup scheduled in October and November in India, the absence of Pandya could pave the way for Suryakumar Yadav to take charge of the team.

The sources stated, “The final decision is yet to be made. It depends on how Hardik feels after the West Indies series of ODIs and T20Is. The Ireland tour involves travel and has a tight schedule of matches. The World Cup is of primary importance, so workload management is essential. Let’s not forget that he will be the vice-captain for the World Cup.”
During the West Indies tour, Hardik will play a crucial role in the limited-overs series, featuring eight matches within 18 days, including some games in the United States. India is scheduled to play three T20I matches in Ireland within five days.
If Hardik travels from the USA to Ireland, it will put significant pressure on him, considering the subsequent journey to Colombo for the Asia Cup.
