Gautam Gambhir has selected his probable playing XI for the ODI series against Sri Lanka. Gautam Gambhir didn’t give any place for KL Rahul in the playing XI.

Soon the Indian team will hit the ground. India will play T20I and ODI series against Sri Lanka from January 3 to 15 in the new year. The series will begin with 3 T20I matches on January 3, 5 and 7.
Three ODI matches will be played on 10, 12 and 15 January. While Hardik Pandya will lead the Indian team in T20, Captain Rohit Sharma has returned in the ODI team. Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul have been rested in the T20I series.
KL Rahul out from the selected team –
Ahead of the start of the Sri Lanka series, former India opener Gautam Gambhir has picked his probable playing XI for the ODIs. KL Rahul did not find a place in Gambhir’s playing XI. Gambhir gave information about his playing XI during the program of Star Sports.
Gambhir said, “It is very difficult to look beyond Rohit and Ishan Kishan in the opening. Virat on three, Surya on four and Shreyas on five. Because he has been doing exceptionally well in the last year and a half. Can’t look further than Hardik Pandya at No.6.”
Shubman Gill will have to wait
Ishaan Kishan’s double century against Bangladesh caught him in the eyes of the selectors. In a big decision, the selectors dropped Shikhar Dhawan from the team.
Gambhir said, when you have five fielders inside the ground, Surya at No.4 can win you games. Shreyas, the kind of form he is in and Hardik at six, I think India can go with this playing XI. Shubman Gill will have to wait for his chance.”
