Kolkata Knight Riders on Thursday announced that Johnson Charles will join the franchise as the replacement for Litton Das. Litton Das has returned home due to family reasons and is out of the rest of IPL 2023. Bangladesh cricket team’s wicket-keeper batsman Litton Das returned to his home at the end of April.
KKR confirmed, “Litton Das had to return to Bangladesh on the morning of 28 April due to a medical emergency in his family. Our prayers are with Litton Das and his family that he may overcome this difficult time. Let us tell you that Litton Das played only one match in IPL 2023 against Delhi Capitals. In this he scored 4 runs and missed two stumpings. KKR had to face defeat in this match.
Let us tell yoi that Litton Das joined the Kolkata Knight Riders squad in the second week of April. He was busy in international cricket then. Litton Das’ Bangladesh team-mate Shakib Al Hasan had withdrawn his name ahead of the tournament. Litton’s replacement wicket-keeper batsman is Johnson Charles.
Johnson Charles is a West Indies wicket-keeper batsman who has represented the national team in 41 T20I Internationals and scored 971 runs. He has been a member of the 2012 and 2016 ICC World T20I World Cup winning team. Apart from this, Charles played 224 T20I matches, in which he scored more than 5600 runs.

Johnson Charles will join KKR for Rs 50 lakh. KKR will take on Sunrisers Hyderabad on Thursday, but then Charles will not be able to play the match as the date of his arrival in India is yet to be decided.
