The schedule and venue of the ODI World Cup 2023 to be held in India this year will be announced during the WTC Final next month. BCCI Secretary Jai Shah gave this information after the Board’s Special General Meeting (SJM) on Saturday.
Shah said, the match venues of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 will be announced at the press conference during the World Test Championship final. The full schedule of the tournament will also be released. A decision on the future of Asia Cup 2023 will also be taken after the meeting of the ACC member (Test playing) and Associate nations.
A proposed limited-overs series between India and Afghanistan will be played before the World Cup, but the dates and venues are yet to be decided. Shah informed that 15 stadiums have been shortlisted keeping in mind the proper facilities for the fans. Later some more stadiums will be added to it. The responsibility of this work has been entrusted to Grant Thornton.
The BCCI will also announce some special committees within a week, which will handle the work related to the World Cup to be held in India and the Women’s Premier League. Apart from this, there will also be a committee to draft the POSH (Prevention of Sexual Harassment) policy. Shah said that before the tour of Bangladesh in July, the head coach of the women’s team will also be selected.
Shah said, keeping in mind the injury of players, we have developed a framework, in which every state association will have to appoint strength and conditioning coaches. Along with this, the team of sports science and sports medicine will also be appointed, NCA will select the candidates after the panel interview.
