The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has unveiled its player contracts for the 2024-25 season, which will be effective from October 1, 2024, to September 30, 2025. While the top-tier contracts remain stable, the contract categories showcase notable changes and adjustments reflecting player performances over the past year.
Top-tier Players in BCCI’s Central Contracts
The A+ category sees no changes, featuring cricketing stalwarts Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Jasprit Bumrah, and Ravindra Jadeja. These players continue to represent the pinnacle of cricketing excellence in India, securing contracts worth Rs 7 crore each.

Changes in Player Rankings
Shreyas Iyer, who was absent from last season’s contracts due to his decision to skip domestic cricket, makes a comeback in Grade B, with a salary of Rs 3 crore. Meanwhile, Ishan Kishan, who opted out of the Ranji Trophy after a break from international competitions, has been placed in Grade C, earning Rs 1 crore.
New Additions and Exclusions
A significant update in this season’s contract list is the inclusion of Varun Chakaravarthy, who earned his place following stellar performances in the Champions Trophy. Conversely, veteran spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has exited the contract listings post his retirement from international cricket.

The contract categories for the BCCI contracts are as follows:
- Grade A+: Rs 7 crore
- Grade A: Rs 5 crore
- Grade B: Rs 3 crore
- Grade C: Rs 1 crore
To qualify for a contract, players must participate in at least 3 Tests, 8 ODIs, or 10 T20Is in a year. Noteworthy inclusions in Grade C include Harshit Rana, Abhishek Sharma, and Nitish Kumar Reddy, all earning their maiden contracts.
