Australia’s tour of England has been a thrilling ride, with both teams putting up a strong fight in the 3 T20I and 5 ODI matches. The T20I series ended in a draw, with the last match being abandoned due to rain.

However, the ODI series saw some exciting games, with Australia winning two consecutive matches to take a strong lead. England fought back in the third and fourth games, but ultimately, Australia emerged victorious by 49 runs (DLS method) in the decider, dubbed the ‘ODI Ashes’.

The final match was played at Bristol, where Australia won the toss and decided to bowl first. The English team was restricted to 309-10 in 49.2 overs, with Duckett scoring a magnificent century (107 runs in 91 balls) with 13 fours and 2 sixes.

Harry Brook also contributed with a solid 72 runs in 52 balls, while Adil Rashid made a late-order cameo of 36 runs in 35 balls. The Australian bowlers did an excellent job, with Head taking 4 wickets for just 28 runs in 6.2 overs, at an economy rate of 4.4.

In response, Aussies openers got off to a flying start, with Head scoring 31 runs in 26 balls and Matthew Short contributing 58 runs in 30 balls. However, both openers were dismissed soon after, and Steve Smith and Inglis stabilised the innings with a partnership of 64 runs.

Unfortunately, rain interrupted the game, and after waiting for over an hour, the umpires decided to use the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern (DLS) method to determine the winner. According to DLS, Australia was declared the winner by 49 runs, claiming the ODI series.

The win marked a thrilling conclusion to Australia’s tour of England, and it was a testament to their team’s skill and resilience. With this victory, Australia has demonstrated their ability to adapt to different conditions and opponents, making them one of the top teams in international cricket.

As they head back home, they will be looking forward to their next challenge, while England will be keen to regroup and prepare for their next series.
