A flashback to IPL-2009
The first ever super over in IPL history took place back in IPL-2009
The first ever super over in the history of IPL has taken place in the IPL-2009 season. The match was between Kolkata Knight Riders and Rajasthan Royals. The matches this season were played in South Africa.
Batting first Rajasthan Royals scored a decent total of 150/6 with the help of an amazing knock from former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly ( 46 from 30 balls), Knight Riders tied the score. The match was then extended to a super-over. The X factor that the Kolkata captain had was Chris Gayle. Gayle with his tremendous shots made an overall total of 15 runs in that 1 super over but Rajasthan, on the other hand, had Yusuf Pathan and his amazing knock of 18 runs from 4 balls, Rajasthan managed to outscore and won the first-ever IPL super over and all credit goes to none other than Yusuf Pathan.
The first ever IPL century by an Indian was hit in IPL-2009
Teenager Manish Pandey whacked 114 not out to steer Bangalore Royal Challengers to a 12-run win over Deccan Chargers. The 19-year-old Pandey, who didn’t start for Bangalore earlier in IPL-2009, helped his side leapfrog Deccan to clinch third place in the IPL after missing out last year.
Manish Pandey smashed 10 fours and 4 sixes in 73 balls for Bangalore to tally 170-4, although it is also one of the slowest centuries in the history of IPL.

IPL-2009 Final between Deccan Chargers and Royal Chalengers Bangalore
The IPL-2009 Final was played between the Deccan Chargers and the Royal Challengers Bangalore. The Chargers led by Adam Gilchrist, came fourth in the group stage table, whereas the Royal Challengers Bangalore, led by Kumble, stood in the third position. They had defeated the Delhi Daredevils and the Chennai Super Kings respectively in the semi-finals.
Winning the toss, Royal Challengers captain Anil Kumble opted to field first. The Chargers scored 143 runs in 20 overs with the loss of 6 wickets. H. Gibbs top-scored for the Deccan Chargers with 53 runs. RCB skipper Anil Kumble took 4 wickets for 16 runs. The Royal Challengers failed to build a good opening partnership. However, due to contributions from the middle order, they somehow managed to reach 129/9 in the last over But Royal Challengers failed to score 15 runs in the over of RP Singh and Deccan Chargers won by 6 runs in the thrilling final.
