Star Indian opener Rohit Sharma, the hitman scored the highest individual score in One Day Internationals on 13 November 2014.
Rohit played an innings of 264 runs against Sri Lanka at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata and entered his name in the record books.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has tweeted remembering Rohit’s historic innings on its Twitter handle. Wrote, “On this day in 2014, Rohit Sharma created history by scoring 264 runs – the highest individual score in ODIs. An innings that included 33 fours and 9 sixes.”
Rohit scored 264 runs in 173 balls –
The right-handed batsman faced 173 balls during his marathon innings, in which Rohit hit 33 fours and 9 sixes. Rohit started very slowly. Rohit completed the first half-century of the innings by scoring 50 runs in 72 balls.
However, after that Rohit changed gears and scored a century, completing the next half-century in just 28 balls. To reach 100 to 150, Rohit took only 25 balls. Rohit completed his double century playing 151 balls. After this, Rohit scored 264 runs in 173 balls, beating the Sri Lankan bowlers.

With Rohit’s innings, India posted a total of 404/5 in 50 overs. In reply, Sri Lanka could only score 251 runs and lost the match by a huge margin of 153 runs. Rohit, popularly known as ‘Hitman’, has scored 3 double centuries so far, which no one has even touched yet.
