India made 287/6 against South Africa in the second ODI by batting first as per their will. The young gun Rishabh Pant top-scored for the visitors with 85 off just 71 balls while the Indian skipper KL Rahul scored 55 off 79 balls. The two of them added 115-runs for the third wicket, after Keshav Maharaj took Virat Kohli’s wicket on Duck.

Shardul Thakur again made a crucial contribution in the lower middle-order this time scoring an unbeaten 38-ball 40. Shreyas Iyer and Venkatesh Iyer once again didn’t live up to the expectation, were sent back to pavilion at 11 and 22 respectively. Spinner Tabraiz Shami took two wickets for 57 runs in nine overs for the hosts.

South Africa’s top order was enough to pour water on all the hopes of the Indian side. Janneman Malan top-scored with 91 and Quinton De Kock scored 78 which gave South Africa a strong base to seal the ODI series, after the test series win. The South African middle-order continued the momentum and easily won the match by 7 wickets.
