Match Preview: England vs Pakistan 1st T20I 2020

Pakistan Cricket Board announced their 15 members Squad for ICC men’s T20 World Cup 2021. Asif Ali and khushdil Shah are making comeback into the Pakistani T20 side for the T20 world cup.

Similar squad will play against England and New Zealand in the upcoming T20 Series ahead of the T20 World Cup. Pakistan will face India in the tornament opener on 24th October.

Pakistan is said to play a 5 match T20 Series against New Zealand in Lahore starting from September 25 and they’ll also host England for a two match T20 Series at Rawalpindi starting on 13 October.

The inclusion of Asif Ali and Khushdil Shah has surprised the cricket fans all around the world. They both played their last T20 match for Pakistan against Zimbabwe and South Africa this year.

“Asif Ali and Khushdil Shah may not have impressive numbers against their names but hardly anyone can doubt their tremendous talent and prowess.”
“They are the best in the available pool of middle-order batsmen and we remain confident that they will provide us solutions to our middle-order difficulties through solid performances”, Muhammad Wasim , Pakistan chief selector said.

Pakistan cricket board have chose youth over experience. They have pickdup Azam Khan ahead of the experienced Sarfaraz Ahmed. Azam Khan has played only 3 T20 for Pakistan and has scored six runs. But he has a tremendous record in domestic T20 tournaments.

Fakhar , Dhani and Usman Qadir are selected as the Reserve player for the T20 World Cup. Pakistan will face India in the opening encounter of the tournament in Dubai on October 24.  Devil face Newzealand in Sharjah on October 26 and they will also take on the  Afghanistan.

Babar Azam (c), Shadab Khan, Asif Ali, Azam Khan, Haris Rauf, Hasan Ali, Imad Wasim , Khushdil Shah, Mohammad Hafeez, Mohammad Hasnain, Mohammad Nawaz, Mohammad Rizwan, Mohammad Wasim, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Sohaib Maqsood.

Misbah Ul Haq and Waqar Younis have step down as coaches of Pakistan as the Pakistan cricket board confirmed on Monday. MS bar step down as the head coach of Pakistan while Waqar step-down from his role as the bowling coach of Pakistan cricket team.

The Pakistan cricket board has confirmed at Saqlain Mushtaq and all rounder Abdul Razzaq will join the team management for the New Zealand tour as interim coaches.

Misbah claim that he wanted to spend more time with his family so he decided to step down from his post.

“The quarantine in Jamaica post the West Indies series provided me with an opportunity to reflect on the past 24 months as well as the schedule for international cricket ahead. Considering that I would have had to continue to spend considerable time away from my family and that too in a bio-secure environment, I have decided to step down from the role.

“I understand that the timing may not be ideal but I don’t think I am in the right frame of mind for the upcoming challenges and it makes sense for someone fresh to step-in and take the side forward.
“The past 24 months have been thoroughly enjoyable and I want to thank my team and the management for their support. I wish the Pakistan cricket team best of luck in the upcoming events and will continue to support them every time they will take the field to represent Pakistan.”

Waqar, on the other hand, said, “After Misbah shared with me his decision and future plans, it was a straightforward one for me to resign as we had walked into the roles together, had worked collectively as a pair and now also step down together.

“Working with the Pakistan bowlers, including the youngsters, has been most satisfying as they have now started to show progress. Bio-secure environments in the past 16 months have had their impact, something we had never experienced during our playing days.
“The next eight months will be busy and exciting for the Pakistan team and, like in the past, I will continue to back and cheer them. I want to thank each and every member of the Pakistan cricket team set-up as we stayed united in good and bad days, and hope there will be brighter days ahead.”
