The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is set to conduct a comprehensive review of the national team’s recent white-ball performances early next month, with the futures of some members of the support staff also expected to come under scrutiny.
BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia confirmed that the review meeting will take place in August following India’s mixed run of results in Ireland, England and Zimbabwe.
Review to Focus on Recent Tours
The meeting will assess India’s performances across their recent white-ball assignments, particularly the disappointing tours of Ireland and England.
Speaking to Cricbuzz, Saikia confirmed that the board would evaluate the team’s overall performances but did not reveal the exact date of the meeting.
“The review meeting will be held in August,” Saikia said, without providing further details.
Ireland and England Tours Raise Concerns
India endured one of their toughest white-ball stretches in recent years after entering the season as reigning T20 World Cup champions.
The team suffered its first-ever T20I series defeat to Ireland in Belfast before enduring a difficult tour of England.
India lost four of the five T20Is against England, with one match washed out due to rain.
The struggles continued in the ODI series, where Shubman Gill’s side went down 2-1 against Harry Brook’s England despite managing one victory.
The results marked a sharp decline after India’s successful World Cup campaign under new T20 captain Shreyas Iyer earlier this year.
Zimbabwe Tour Offers Some Relief
India managed to bounce back during the ongoing T20I series against Zimbabwe.
The expected series victory has provided some positives, but it is unlikely to overshadow the disappointing performances against Ireland and England.
The BCCI is expected to evaluate the team’s consistency and overall approach across all recent white-ball matches.

Support Staff Under Review
Apart from reviewing on-field performances, the BCCI will also assess the contracts of certain members of the support staff working under head coach Gautam Gambhir.
Saikia confirmed that the board would examine the contracts of a couple of staff members but did not identify those involved or indicate whether changes were likely.
The review could lead to adjustments within the coaching setup as India prepares for a busy international schedule.

The August review is expected to shape India’s white-ball plans moving forward.
With major ICC tournaments and bilateral series on the horizon, the BCCI will look to identify areas for improvement following an inconsistent run of results.
