With a significant move, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced a new “structured support” framework for the country’s visually impaired cricketers (blind cricket team).
This initiative aims to provide both the men’s and women’s national teams under the Cricket Association for the Blind in India (CABI) with the resources they need to excel on the global stage.
India’s visually impaired teams have a long history of success. The men’s team has won multiple world championships, proving their dominance in the sport.

Similarly, the women’s team made history by winning the inaugural Women’s T20 World Cup for the Blind in 2025. Recognizing these incredible feats, the BCCI is stepping in to ensure these athletes have world-class backing.
Key Features of the Support

The new support plan focuses on three main areas:
- International Exposure: The BCCI will fund international travel for two overseas tournaments every year for both the men’s and women’s teams.
- Home Series Logistics: During bilateral series hosted in India, the BCCI will provide accommodation for both the Indian teams and visiting international sides.
- World-Class Facilities: Players will now have access to BCCI-affiliated stadiums and grounds for both domestic matches and international fixtures.

BCCI President Mithun Manhas expressed immense pride in the athletes, stating that the goal is to strengthen infrastructure and opportunities. He emphasized that “inclusive growth” is central to the BCCI’s vision, ensuring that cricket remains a game for everyone.
By providing these professional resources, the BCCI hopes to inspire more individuals to take up the sport and help current players pursue excellence with confidence.
Moving forward, the BCCI will work closely with CABI to advance these initiatives, marking a historic chapter for blind cricket in India.
