The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) on Friday officially announced that it will host India for a highly anticipated white-ball series in September 2026. The tour, which consists of three One Day Internationals (ODIs) and three T20I Internationals (T20Is), marks a major milestone in the regional cricket calendar.

However, uncertainty looms over the tour as the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has yet to confirm its travel plans, citing the prevailing conditions and the lack of a stable government in Bangladesh.

IPL Controversy and Security Concerns

The tour announcement coincides with a brewing controversy regarding the participation of Bangladesh players in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Following the mini-auction last month, pacer Mustafizur Rahman became the most expensive player from Bangladesh after being secured by Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) for Rs 9.20 crore.

This signing has sparked intense debate, with some political figures and religious leaders questioning his participation amid reports of violence against minorities in Bangladesh.

While the BCCI has not officially commented on the government’s stance, sources reiterate that no directive has been issued to prevent Bangladesh players from competing.
