Pakistan’s premier fast bowler, Naseem Shah, has shown remarkable commitment to his national duties, confirming he will remain with the squad despite a shocking attack on his family residence. The pacer is currently in Rawalpindi preparing for the upcoming ODI series against Sri Lanka.

The alarming incident occurred in the early hours of Monday morning at his family home in Lower Dir. According to reports, unknown assailants fired shots at the gate of the residence before fleeing the scene. Critically, local authorities confirmed that no one at the residence was reported to be injured during the attack.

A police investigation was immediately launched into the matter. Dawn reported that the father of Naseem Shah met with a police officer, who assured him that the assailants would be apprehended and brought to justice quickly. It is not yet known who was at the residence at the time of the firing.

Despite the distressing news, Naseem Shah’s focus remains squarely on the upcoming international fixtures. Sources understands the incident doesn’t affect the fast bowler’s plans or schedule for the series. He is staying with the squad and is expected to take full part in the matches as required.

This commitment is crucial as Pakistan faces a busy schedule. The team begins a three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka in Rawalpindi on Tuesday. Following this, Naseem Shah is also a key part of the squad for a T20I tri-series later this month, which also involves Zimbabwe.

It is not known whether any of Naseem’s two younger brothers, Hunain and Ubaid, who are also professional cricketers, were at the residence during the attack. Hunain, the 2024 PSL final hero for Islamabad United, and Ubaid, who plays for Multan Sultans, have both been recently active in the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy.
