In the past two years, Nepal cricket has experienced a remarkable transformation, showcasing their increasing prominence on the international stage. Over the past two years, the Nepal team has been exceptionally active, and much of this progress can be attributed to the International Cricket Council (ICC).

The ICC’s focused efforts on developing cricket in Nepal—scheduling matches against other nations and fostering stronger bonds—have played a crucial role in elevating the team’s performance and visibility.

Historically, Nepali players were often seen participating in small-level T20 leagues or regional tournaments. However, in the last couple of years, their presence at the international level has become more consistent and impactful. Nepali cricketers are now competing regularly against top-tier teams, and their performances have been impressive.

Their winning percentage post-2024 highlights a significant upward trajectory. In 2024 alone, they played 25 T20I matches, securing 10 wins, 3 ties, and facing 12 losses. Similarly, in ODIs, they played 14 matches, winning 6 and having one no-result.

These stats reflect their growing confidence and skill, especially with Nepal participating in global tournaments like the T20 World Cup, where they faced cricket giants such as Pakistan and New Zealand—teams against which they managed a winning percentage of over 50%.

The year 2025 has continued this momentum. Up to now, the team has played six T20 matches, winning three, with one tied and one no-result. Their ODI performance is equally promising, with 4 matches played and 3 wins, demonstrating their readiness for upcoming ICC tournaments.

These achievements underscore the talent and determination within the team, which is steadily building a reputation as a formidable cricketing nation.

A vital factor behind this rise is the dedicated support staff and visionary leadership. Head coach Stuart Law, a former Australian cricketer, is playing a pivotal role in shaping Nepal’s cricketing future. His expertise and strategic guidance are helping players hone their skills and develop a winning mindset.

In the next five years, Nepal is poised to become a team to watch, similar to Afghanistan or Bangladesh, as they continue to grow and challenge established cricketing powers.

Their performances symbolize the true spirit of Nepali cricket—focused, disciplined, and committed to success.

The future of Nepal cricket is bright, and with continued support and strategic development, this small nation is set to make a big impact on world cricket in the years to come.
