Nepal and the West Indies are set to make cricket history as they prepare to compete in their inaugural bilateral T20I series. Scheduled for September in Sharjah, the series will feature three matches on the 27th, 28th, and 30th of the month. While the games will be played at a neutral venue, Nepal will serve as the official hosts, marking a significant milestone in both teams’ cricketing journeys.

This historic series underscores the West Indies’ commitment to growing and globalizing the sport. A Cricket West Indies (CWI) statement described the event as a “significant milestone,” emphasizing its role in expanding cricket’s international footprint.

The matches will serve as vital preparation for Nepal ahead of their participation in the men’s T20 World Cup Asia qualifier later in the year.

CWI CEO Chris Dehring highlighted the importance of supporting emerging cricket nations like Nepal. “This series is more than just a set of international matches—it’s a celebration of cricket’s expanding global footprint and a testament to what the game represents: pride, purpose, and unity,” Dehring said.

He stated that as a full-member cricketing nation, the West Indies recognizes its responsibility to contribute to the development of cricket beyond traditional borders. Supporting Nepal at this pivotal stage not only promotes grassroots and international growth but also fosters national pride and unity.

The West Indies team is currently in Ireland for a three-match T20I series, although their first game was washed out due to weather. Meanwhile, Nepal is competing in a T20I tri-series in Scotland, involving the Netherlands. The West Indies, two-time World Cup champions, are ranked fifth in T20Is, while Nepal holds the 18th position.
