In a strategic move ahead of the 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL) season, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has partially extended its Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) initially designed for the Indian national team to cover all ten IPL franchises. This adjustment comes as part of ongoing efforts to enhance professionalism and create a structured environment for players during the tournament.
New regulations dictate that players must travel exclusively by team bus for practice sessions, with the potential for teams to split into two batches if necessary. This restriction not only streamlines logistics but also emphasizes team unity.

Importantly, players’ family members will not be permitted in dressing rooms, even during training days, ensuring a focused atmosphere both on and off the field.
According to a BCCIÂ memo shared with team managers, “On practice days (during pre-tournament & tournament), only accredited staff is allowed in the dressing room.” Family members and friends will be able to observe practices from designated hospitality areas, aiming to keep distractions to a minimum.
Additionally, franchises are required to submit lists of extended support staff, including throw-down specialists and net bowlers, for BCCI approval. This measure aims to maintain oversight on the personnel involved in each team, ensuring that they meet the league’s accreditation standards.

A franchise official expressed support for the BCCI’s new measures, noting that many teams already adhered to similar protocols. However, it was acknowledged that some players previously opted to travel separately, a practice that will now be prohibited.
The BCCI has also implemented strict policies regarding player conduct. Players who fail to carry their accreditation cards on match days will face penalties after an initial warning. Moreover, attire for post-match presentations is regulated, with loose and sleeveless clothing banned to maintain a professional appearance.
Moreover, players have been warned against striking advertising LED boards with their shots, as this poses risks during practice and play. The BCCI’s emphasis on these SOPs highlights its commitment to enhancing operational standards and fostering a disciplined environment in the IPL.
