The cricketing world is gearing up for an exciting winter as the West Indies women’s team, along with Ireland’s women, prepares to embark on their white-ball tours to India in December 2023 and January 2024.
This upcoming series is part of the 2022-2025 Future Tours Programme (FTP) and marks a significant occasion for Ireland, as it will be their first-ever bilateral tour to Indian soil.

The tour will kick off with three T20 International matches against the West Indies, scheduled to take place in Navi Mumbai on December 15, 17, and 19. Following the T20Is, India will host the West Indies in three One Day Internationals (ODIs) from December 22, 24 and 27 in Vadodara.
This series is not just significant for its competitive nature; it also serves as crucial preparation for India as they gear up for the ODI World Cup, set to take place in India next year.

The series against Ireland is equally monumental for both teams, with three ODIs slated for January 10, 12, and 15 in Rajkot. This encounter marks the first time that Ireland will play a bilateral series in India since the teams last clashed in 2006.
Ireland has historically struggled against India in ODIs, losing all 12 matches they’ve played against the formidable side so far. Their last meeting in the 2023 T20 World Cup saw India narrowly claim victory by just five runs.

The West Indies team, which last visited India for a white-ball series in 2016, aims to leverage their past experience and build upon their record, having previously won the T20 series 3-0 but lost the ODIs 0-3. Meanwhile, Rajkot will witness India’s women return to the venue after a lengthy 14-year absence, with their last match in January 2011 against none other than the West Indies.
