During the electrifying clash between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the 18th match of IPL 2024, Shivam Dube once again showcased his prowess with the bat, contributing significantly to CSK’s formidable start in the tournament. Dube’s explosive power-hitting has been a highlight of CSK’s campaign, propelling them to victory in their initial two matches.
In this latest showdown, Dube’s fastest knock of 45 runs off just 24 balls, adorned with four towering sixes, played a pivotal role in setting CSK on the path to dominance, particularly after the team encountered some early setbacks. The defining moment came in the 12th over when Dube unleashed his brute force, dispatching two consecutive deliveries from T Natarajan over the deep mid-wicket boundary.
The first of these blows was a short-pitched delivery that presented itself as an ideal opportunity for Dube to flex his muscles, sending the ball sailing into the stands with consummate ease. Unfazed by the challenge posed by the next delivery, which was a full delivery angling into the middle and leg, Dube exhibited his mastery by staying deep in his crease and launching the ball over mid-wicket for another colossal six.

While Dube appeared to be cruising towards his second half-century of the season, his innings was cut short by a fierce delivery from Pat Cummins in the 14th over. Additionally, Jaydev Unadkat’s dismissal of Ajinkya Rahane, who contributed a valuable 35 runs off 30 balls, added to the pressure on CSK.
With Dube’s stellar performance setting the tone, CSK given a target of 166 to SRH and now they will look to ball their best to maintain their winning momentum and continue their quest for IPL glory in the 2024 season.
