The England team, trailing 0-2 in the series against Australia, suffered a major setback on Tuesday (July 4). His vice-captain Ollie Pope has been ruled out of the entire series.
Ollie Pope’s right shoulder dislocated during the Lord’s Test. Now he will have surgery in the coming days, the third Test match of the series between England and Australia will be played at Headingley from July 6.
Ollie Pope, 25, suffered a shoulder injury after landing awkwardly during Australia’s first innings in the second Test last week. After this, his injury increased during the second innings on the third day. The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has issued a statement regarding Pope’s injury.
“England and Surrey batsman Ollie Pope has been ruled out of the remainder of the Ashes series after dislocating his right shoulder during the second Ashes Test at Lord’s last week,” it said.

The ECB further said, “Scans in London on Monday revealed the full severity of the injury. He will not be able to play further this season, he needs surgery.” England has not yet announced the name of any replacement player. Ollie Pope’s form has not been good this season. He could not perform well for the team. Pope scored 31 and 14 in the Edgbaston Test. At the same time, in the second Test played at Lord’s, he scored 42 and three runs.
England also had to face defeat in the Lord’s Test after Edgbaston. If he has to return to the series, he will have to win the Headingley Test. If the team loses or draws in that match, then Australia will retain the Ashes, he had named the Ashes series last time.
In such a situation, England will have to perform miraculously to get back the Ashes. He has to win all the three Tests. Captain Ben Stokes has already said that his team can win all the three Tests.
