Virat Kohli has been a brilliant captain to say the least. Irrespective of what his critics say, he has barely done anything wrong and has been a fine leader. He has a win percentage of more than 55 and his resume as a skipper looks magnificent. However, he is already 32. As harsh as it may sound, Kohli has another three to four years left in him as just like every other player, he is going to get old. India need a new captain to guide India to the future. So who should lead India post the Kohli era? Who can be India’s future captain? Today we shall be taking a look at 3 probable future captains of Team India.

1) KL Rahul:
Among all the probable options, KL Rahul seems the best. He has been one of India’s best players for quite a while now and can very well be a superb skipper for India. An added bonus is his versatility, the flexibility and options he offers could probably tempt the Indian selectors in making him the new face of Indian cricket. He can don the gloves, he can open the innings as well as bat as a finisher, what more do you want? A good captain is flexible in nature and should be willing to adjust his game for the team . KL Rahul can do that really well. He has also shown his maturity as a skipper for Punjab Kings. He almost lead a depleted side to the playoffs and lead from the front. His only issue is his age. He is already 29 and If he leads India at the age of 32 or 33, he won’t have much to offer.

2) Shreyas Iyer:
From a realistic point of view, Shreyas is the most ideal choice to lead India in the future. He not only has age on his side but has also proven himself as a captain. He was inspirational as a leader for Delhi Capitals as they finished third and second in the two seasons where he got to captain for the entire tournament. He has also been a superb anchor for India and has more or less solved India’s number 4 crisis. Captains generally tend to play sensibly and hold the innings from one end and Shreyas Iyer does it very well. As he’s just 26, he still has a lot to offer. Thus, Shreyas Iyer is arguably the ideal candidate to be India’s future captain.

3) Rishabh Pant:
Probably one of the most dynamic players currently, Pant is another player who could lead India. He impressed one and all in the limited opportunities he got to captain. He has lead his state team and IPL team and already has a fair share of exposure as a leader. His explosive approach can take India places. He is innovative in nature and can apply that as a captain as well. Above all, he is just 23 and has age on his side. Thus, Pant has a very good chance to lead India and thus he is one of the options to captain India post Kohl’s reign.
