Viacom18 has bought the media rights of the first women’s IPL to be held in India. Sharing this information, the BCCI secretary informed that this is a big deal for women’s cricket.
Let us tell you that Viacom18 has bought this right for a huge amount of 951 crores.
Jay Shah tweeted, “Congratulations to Viacom18 for winning the media rights of Women’s IPL. Thank you for the faith you have shown in BCCI and BCCI Women. He also wrote that Viacom18 bought this right for 951 crores. Which means the value per match will be Rs 7.09 crore. This right is for the next 5 years 2023-2027, he called it fantastic for women’s cricket.”
Not only this, Jay Shah also tweeted another tweet, in which he also mentioned pay-equity, a big step taken in the direction of women’s cricket in India.
He wrote that after pay equity, this is another big step towards the empowerment of women’s cricket, which will ensure the participation of women of all ages. Truly a new dawn for women’s cricket.
Let us tell you that on January 3, the BCCI had issued a tender for this. It is also the dream project of BCCI. There will be 5 franchise teams in the first season of Women’s IPL. Women’s IPL got the green signal during the BCCI’s Governing Council meeting last year.
However, till now no official date has been announced regarding this, but it is expected that it can be played in March.
