In a major blow to USA cricket, star batter Aaron Jones has been provisionally suspended from all forms of the game after being charged with five breaches of the Anti-Corruption Code.
The International Cricket Council (ICC) issued the charges on January 28, 2026, stemming from a wide-reaching investigation into corrupt activities.

The allegations against the 31-year-old predominantly concern his participation in the 2023-24 Bim10 tournament in Barbados. However, the ICC confirmed that two of the five charges also relate to international matches. The specific breaches include:
- Match-Fixing: Attempting to fix or improperly influence the result or progress of matches.
- Non-Disclosure: Failing to report corrupt approaches or invitations to authorities.
- Obstruction: Refusing to cooperate with investigators and tampering with evidence or information relevant to the probe.
Impact on the 2026 T20 World Cup

The timing of the suspension is particularly damaging for the USA national team. Jones was currently attending an 18-player training camp in Sri Lanka in preparation for the upcoming 2026 T20 World Cup.
As a result of the provisional suspension, he is now ineligible for selection, forcing the national side to look for alternatives for their final 15-man squad.
Jones has been a cornerstone of USA cricket since his debut in 2019, appearing in 52 ODIs and 48 T20Is. He rose to global prominence during the 2024 T20 World Cup, where his explosive 94* against Canada and vital contribution in the historic win over Pakistan made him a household name.

The ICC has stated that this case is part of a broader investigation, suggesting more charges may follow for other participants. Jones has 14 days to respond to the allegations.
