When the team captained by Rohit Sharma will enter into the final of the ICC World Test Championship 2023 against Australia from June 7, the team’s jersey will look old. Only India will be written on that jersey, as it used to be written some time ago, when BCCI did not have sponsors. In the WTC final, Team India will field with a jersey without a sponsor.
Most of the players of Team India have reached England for the WTC final and have started training. The players and support staff have come out in new jerseys, which have only the BCCI logo and the three stripes of Adidas logo, Adidas is the new kit sponsor of Team India. Until now, Team India’s main sponsor was Byju’s, which terminated the deal in March.
Although the agreement between Byju’s and BCCI was till November 2023, but the condition of the ed-tech company in the market is not good. In such a situation, both have broken the partnership.

The BCCI will soon float a tender for a long-term partnership, but according to Hindustan Times, the officials had made a plan for the short term as well, which hasn’t materialized yet. In such a situation, the man sponsor is hardly seen on the jersey.
A BCCI official said, “It would be appropriate that Indian cricket associates with prestigious and long-term partners rather than low-key deals.” In the old deal, BCCI used to take Rs 1.5 crore for an ICC match and Rs 4.6 crore for a bilateral match from its sponsor, but now with the increase in ICC events, this amount can also be increased.
With the board’s recent five-year contract with Adidas and the busy ICC calendar now including a white-ball world event every year, the board will hope to find the right partner ahead of the October-November World Cup at home. However, in the meantime it will be a rare sight to see Indian cricketers playing without sponsor clothing, it will appear as if a small country is playing.
