The Indian Test and ODI squads for the West Indies tour have been announced. Only Rohit Sharma will be seen captaining in both the formats. At the same time, Ajinkya Rahane will be seen as the vice-captain in Tests and Hardik Pandya in ODIs respectively.

Team India will play two Tests, three ODIs and five T20Is on the Windies tour. The Windies tour will also mark the start of India’s next World Test Championship cycle. Along with this, Team India will have a chance to implement the preparations for the ODI World Cup.

With Rahane becoming the vice-captain i.e. Rohit’s deputy in Tests, it has become clear that he is now a contender to become the captain of Team India in this format. Apart from this, it is also worth seeing that young Rituraj Gaikwad, Yashasvi Jaiswal and fast bowler Mukesh Kumar have entered the Test team.

And the big selection is of Sanju Samson who was somewhere missing from Team India since from a very long time, but because of seeing his latest knocks in domestic and contribution to Team India, selectors gave him a chance to show his skills.

KS Bharat and Ishan Kishan will be India’s wicketkeepers in the Test while Mohammed Shami has been dropped from both the Test and ODI squads. Spin department will dependent on Ashwin, Jadeja and Akshar. At the same time, the responsibility of fast bowling will be on Shardul, Mukesh, Siraj, Unadkat and Navdeep.
