As the excitement builds for the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy 2025, anticipation is mounting around Team India’s unofficial squad. With the official preliminary squads set to be released by January 12, teams are beginning to shape their strategies and player line-ups. For India, a talented pool of players is being considered, reflecting both skill and potential for success in the tournament.

One of the key selections in our unofficial squad for Champions Trophy is KL Rahul, earmarked as the primary option for wicketkeeper-batsman. His experience and versatility will be invaluable to the team’s dynamics. Rishabh Pant, while an excellent talent, is considered a secondary option and may not find a place in the playing XI due to competition.

Shreyas Iyer is another certainty in this lineup, a consistent performer who can boost the innings. The pace attack remains a crucial area of focus, with Jasprit Bumrah’s name crucially included; however, his participation would be subject to fitness concerns.

The team management has made it clear that if there’s any risk of injury, his name will be withdrawn from the Champions Trophy to ensure the team’s overall effectiveness. Should Bumrah not be fit, the pace battery will likely consist of Mohammed Siraj, Akash Deep, and Mohammed Shami.

On the spin front, Kuldeep Yadav is expected to shine as the preferred leg-spinner, while Varun Chakravarthy and Ravi Bishnoi may find themselves sidelined from this tournament. Recent debutant Nitish Reddy stands as a backup for Hardik Pandya, adding depth and flexibility to the squad.

Looking at the all-rounders, the options include Ravindra Jadeja, Washington Sundar, and Axar Patel; however, only Sundar’s position appears secure at this time. The fate of Jadeja and Axar will depend on the selectors’ choices leading up to the official announcement.
