Former Bangladesh cricket captain Tamim Iqbal is currently on life support following a massive heart attack he suffered during a match in the Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League. The incident took place while he was playing for Mohammedan Sporting Club against Shinepukur Cricket Club in Savar, located on the outskirts of Dhaka. Local media reports describe his condition as ‘critical’, leading medical teams to act swiftly to save his life.

According to Dr. Debashish Chowdhury, the chief physician of the Bangladesh Cricket Board, initial assessments at a local hospital indicated mild heart issues.

While preparations were made to airlift him to a hospital in Dhaka, Tamim Iqbal experienced severe chest pain on the way to the helipad and had to be rushed back to receive immediate care. Subsequent medical evaluations confirmed that he had indeed suffered a major heart attack.

“Tamim Iqbal is currently under observation, and the medical team is doing everything possible for his recovery,” Dr. Chowdhury stated, highlighting the urgency and gravity of the situation. Once back in the hospital, doctors conducted an angiogram and angioplasty to address the blockage in his arteries. Thankfully, the surgical procedure went smoothly, though he remains in critical condition.

Since retiring from international cricket in January, Tamim Iqbal has been actively participating in local matches and serving as a commentator, showing his unwavering passion for the sport. The cricket community is rallying around him, with fans and players alike praying for his swift and full recovery.
