In a nail-biting final at the World Athletics Championships 2025 in Tokyo, India’s Sachin Yadav put on the best performance of his life. He came very close to winning a medal, showing he is a major new talent in men’s javelin. Many people were focused on the expected matchup between Olympic medalist Neeraj Chopra and Pakistan’s Arshad Nadeem, but it was the 25-year-old Sachin who truly stood out.
Competing in his first-ever world final, Sachin Yadav made a bold statement right away. He threw the javelin a stunning 86.27m on his very first attempt, a new personal best.

This amazing throw briefly put him in second place. Even though he had a foul on his next try, he kept throwing well, with tosses of 85.71m and 85.96m. He stayed in the running for a medal until the very end, finishing in a respectable fourth place. He was just 40 centimeters away from winning the bronze medal.
In contrast, it was a tough day for the current world champion, Neeraj Chopra. He couldn’t find his rhythm and his best throw was only 84.03m, which landed him in eighth place. Sachin Yadav’s powerful first throw made sure he finished ahead of both Chopra and Nadeem, who came in 10th.
