The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) is set to honor the cricketing legend Sachin Tendulkar in a grand manner. On the eve of the 2023 ODI World Cup match between India and Sri Lanka at the iconic Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, a life-size statue of Sachin Tendulkar will be unveiled.
This initiative was announced earlier this year by the MCA president as a fitting tribute to the master blaster who celebrated his 50th birthday in April. The finishing touches to this remarkable statue were meticulously added, and it’s now ready to be revealed to the world.
The life-size statue captures Sachin Tendulkar in action, depicting him in his signature pose while playing a stroke. It’s been strategically placed next to the Sachin Tendulkar stand, a location that resonates with his numerous cricketing achievements at the Wankhede Stadium.
The inauguration ceremony for Sachin Tendulkar’s statue promises to be a star-studded event, with the presence of prominent personalities. Maharashtra’s chief minister, Eknath Shinde, and deputy chief minister, Devendra Fadnavis, will be among the dignitaries attending.
The cricketing world will also be well-represented, with Sachin Tendulkar himself, BCCIÂ secretary Jay Shah, and treasurer Ashish Shelar in attendance. The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) officials, including president Amol Kale, secretary Ajinkya Naik, and other apex council members, will grace the event with their presence.
The statue itself is a masterpiece, created by the talented sculptor Pramod Kamble from Ahmednagar, a well-known figure in his field. This lifelike representation of Sachin Tendulkar stands at an impressive 14 feet, with a height of 10 feet along with the additional 4 feet for the classic pose that captures the essence of the Little Master in action.
The pose chosen for the statue is one that cricket enthusiasts worldwide will instantly recognize, as it captures the spirit of Sachin’s iconic sixer.
