The Indian subcontinent has seen a lot of cricket happening over the years and one of the biggest names from the region alongside India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh is Pakistan, a team whose performances has been really interesting to follow and look, in the recent times. The curious case of this team has been a talking point in the cricketing circles all over and the performance and player cases have been a really hot topic of discussion in the cricketing circles.
The biggest names of world cricket have been a part of this team in the past but in the recent times, the performances of the players and teams at a whole, is a thing that has really gone under the radar and there’s a small group of people as stated earlier have been talking about it.
At home, Pakistan’s performances have been phenomenal but the biggest loophole in their setup has been their performance overseas that has caught the eye when looking at the stats sheet according to the countries. And, the latest example of this was their performance in New Zealand. They brought in names like Fawad Alam after a long time and tried their best but it all went in vain as the Kiwis managed to one-up them in both the games. The first match was won by New Zealand by 101 runs and they followed it up by an even bigger win, which was by an innings and 176 runs margin.
The numbers say it all for Pakistan
The stats suggest a no different story. Since the year 2016, the team has not won a single game in Australia, New Zealand and South Africa, which must be getting on the nerves of the players and the coaching staff, adding another worrying factor for the fans. The team’s number at home has not been that great too. In the UAE, Pakistan has played 13 games out of which they have lost 5 games and won 6 of those, drawing only two.
While the numbers at home may not look that concerning, but when kept alongside the records of teams like India and New Zealand, who have almost excelled at home, if not winning overseas games. There is a truckload of problems that need to be addressed in the Pakistan team, with only a slight silver lining to look forward to. So, it will be interesting to see what the team management and the brain behind it all being one of the best cricket players to have come out of the country in the recent times, Misbah ul Haq, who is the coach of the team.
