Indian team’s leading fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah has been ruled out of the upcoming three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka.
BCCI sources said that they do not want to rush Bumrah’s return. Bumrah has not reached Guwahati with the team for the first ODI. Let us tell you that the first match of the three-match ODI series between India and Sri Lanka will be played on Tuesday.
Jasprit Bumrah was included in the ODI squad by the BCCI on the recommendation of the All India Selection Committee on 29 December. The BCCI in its media release said, “The All India Senior Selection Committee has included fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah for the upcoming three ODI series against Sri Lanka.”
Let us tell you that Bumrah is away from cricket action since September 2022 and he was out of T20I World Cup due to back injury. The BCCI further said, ‘The fast bowler is undergoing rehab and has been declared fit by the NCA. He will join the Indian team soon.’
According to the report of Cricbuzz, it has now come to light that Bumrah will not play in the ODI series. This recommendation has come from the NCA staff. This decision has been taken because India has to take part in the series against Australia and the World Cup ahead. There has been talk with BCCI in this regard or not, it could not be confirmed.
It is being said in the report that at this time the team management is following the advice of NCA. Sources said that Bumrah may be seen in the limited overs series against New Zealand. The Indian team has to play a series of three ODIs and three T20I Internationals against New Zealand.
