Ishan Kishan was the star of the show as India beat Pakistan in the T20 World Cup 2026. Playing at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo, Kishan smashed 77 runs off just 40 balls, helping India reach a strong total of 175.

Everyone knows Ishan Kishan is powerful on the leg side, but in this match, he revealed a big change in his batting. He has been working hard on his “off-side” game. On a slow pitch where scoring was difficult, he hit 25 runs off only nine balls on the off side.

“I worked a lot on my off-side shots,” Kishan said after winning the Player of the Match award. He explained that by hitting well on both sides of the field, he forces bowlers to bowl exactly where he wants them to. Instead of just trying to hit sixes, he focused on finding gaps in the big field to pick up easy runs.

India had a rough start, losing opener Abhishek Sharma for zero in the very first over. However, Ishan Kishan didn’t let the pressure get to him. By the eighth over, he had scored 72 of India’s 82 runs.

Captain Suryakumar Yadav praised his bravery, saying, “Ishan thought out of the box. Someone had to take responsibility after losing a wicket early, and he was amazing.”

Pakistan struggled to chase the target. While Pakistan used mostly spin bowlers, India’s fast bowlers—Jasprit Bumrah and Hardik Pandya—were too good. They destroyed Pakistan’s top order, leaving them at 13 runs for 3 wickets very quickly.

Pakistan eventually lost by 61 runs. With this big win, India has officially qualified for the Super8’s stage of the tournament.
