As the Delhi & District Cricket Association (DDCA) gears up for its upcoming elections, a clear divide has emerged between the incumbent leadership and challenger Kirti Azad, who is vying for the top position with his running mate Sanjay Bhardwaj. The duo has promised a new era of transparency, reforms, and member-centric governance, seeking to end the alleged misconduct and mismanagement under the current leadership.
Azad, a cricketing icon with a proven track record of integrity and commitment to ethical governance, has launched a scathing attack on the current DDCA officials, accusing them of mismanaging funds, denying members their rightful status, and failing to upgrade stadium infrastructure. He has also highlighted the lack of proper auditing of books of accounts, favouritism in ticket distribution, and neglect of grassroots development.

The Kirti Azad-Sanjay Bhardwaj panel has promised a slew of reforms aimed at elevating DDCA to the pinnacle of cricketing institutions. These include ensuring transparency in financial dealings, implementing a robust audit system, and providing better facilities for members.
Bhardwaj, a former Ranji Trophy player and current Secretary candidate, echoed Azad’s sentiments. “As a cricketer, I know what it takes to win matches. Similarly, as an administrator, I know what it takes to build a strong team. Our vision is to create a DDCA that is proud of its heritage and committed to its members.”
The DDCA is responsible for governing cricket activities in New Delhi and is affiliated to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). The association offers its members various facilities like a club with an air-conditioned bar, indoor badminton court, pavilion restaurant, health club, card room, health centre, and indoor games.
As the DDCA elections approach, the stage is set for a thrilling contest between Azad’s reform-oriented panel and the incumbent leadership. With the promise of transparency and accountability hanging in the balance, cricket enthusiasts and members alike are eagerly waiting to see which way the pendulum swings.
