After missing out on the playoffs in IPL-2024, the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are set to make a strong comeback in the 2025 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). The five-time IPL champions retained five key players for ₹55 crore and further bolstered their squad with several high-quality additions during the IPL 2025 mega auction.
CSK entered the bidding event with ₹65 crore and have assembled a formidable team. Their strongest XI looks promising and consists of the following players:
The opening duo of CSK is expected to be Devon Conway and Ruturaj Gaikwad. Conway, the left-handed wicketkeeper-batter from New Zealand, boasts an impressive IPL record of 924 runs from just 23 matches. Gaikwad, who was named the CSK captain ahead of the IPL 2024 season, has scored a whopping 2,380 runs in his IPL career of over 66 matches.

The middle order will be bolstered by Rachin Ravindra, a left-handed batter and known for his spin bowling skills, and Rahul Tripathi, a Maharashtra right-handed batter who has scored 2,236 runs in his previous stints. Shivam Dube and Ravindra Jadeja will form the lower order, providing strength with both bat and ball.
The wicket-keeper and bowlers for CSK in the strongest XI include MS Dhoni, the most capped player in IPL history, and legendary Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin, who was signed for ₹9.75 crore. Sam Curran, Khaleel Ahmed, and Matheesha Pathirana will form the pace attack.
