South Africa’s plans for the upcoming T20 World Cup have hit a major problem. All-rounder Donovan Ferreira might miss the tournament after injuring his shoulder during a recent match.
The injury happened while Ferreira was playing for the Joburg Super Kings in the SA20 league. He dived to stop the ball near the boundary but landed heavily on his left shoulder. Even though he was in pain, he later came out to bat. However, he could only face one ball because he could not move his arm properly and had to leave the field.

Recent medical tests show that Ferreira has a broken shoulder. This means he cannot play for the rest of the SA20 season and will likely miss the World Cup, which starts in February.

Ferreira is a very useful player for the team. He was chosen for three main reasons:
- He is a powerful batter who scores quickly at the end of a game.
- He is a back-up wicketkeeper.
- He can bowl spin when needed.
If he cannot play, South Africa might call up Ryan Rickelton, who has been in great form recently. Other players like Tristan Stubbs or Matthew Breetzke could also be considered as replacements.
More Problems for the Team
This is not the only issue for South Africa. Batter Tony de Zorzi is still recovering from a leg injury. There is also a lot of debate because Ottneil Baartman, who has taken the most wickets in the SA20, was left out of the squad.
With the World Cup just weeks away, the team management has some very difficult decisions to make to ensure they are ready for the big tournament.
