Several important decisions were taken in the BCCI review meeting regarding the T20I World Cup defeat and preparations for the 2023 World Cup.
In the presence of coach Rahul Dravid and captain Rohit Sharma, the BCCI has shortlisted 20 key players for the World Cup to be hosted by India.
These will be the players who will be rotated for workload management before the World Cup. However, who will be those 20 players?
Nothing has been revealed about this, but well-known commentator Harsha Bhogle has welcomed this decision of BCCI and shared the list of 21 players who would have been shortlisted by BCCI.
According to him, those 21 names are-
Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, KL Rahul, Shreyas Iyer, Ishan Kishan, Rishabh Pant, Suryakumar Yadav, Sanju Samson, Hardik Pandya, Akshar Patel, Ravindra Jadeja, Washington Sundar, Kuldeep Yadav, Yuzvendra Chahal, Jaspreet Bumrah, Mohammed Shami, Arshdeep Singh, Krishna, Mohammed Siraj, and Shardul Thakur.
Apart from this, he has included 2 more names in which Rajat Patidar and fast bowler Umran Malik are there. In this meeting which lasted for more than 3 hours, many important issues were also discussed like workload of players and priority in international cricket and bilateral cricket series will also be decided.
If we talk about Team India last year, hardly as many players would have been injured as in 2022. There are names like Jasprit Bumrah, Deepak Chahar, Ravindra Jadeja, Mohammed Shami and KL Rahul who stayed away from the field due to one injury or the other.
