The Indian cricket team has performed shamefully in the last two T20I World Cups. After being eliminated in the group round in 2021, Team India lost in the semi-finals in 2022.
Since 2013, Team India has been slipping in the last minute in ICC tournaments. India will host the ODI World Cup later this year. The board and team management have started preparations for that. Captain Rohit Sharma and coach Rahul Dravid had a meeting with the board officials on 1 January, there was talk about future plans.
Meanwhile, the Indian team’s preparations for the ODI World Cup have suffered a setback. Rishabh Pant, who met with an accident in Roorkee, Uttarakhand on December 30 last year, finds it difficult to play in the ODI World Cup.
According to media reports, it may take at least eight to nine months for Pant to make a comeback. In such a situation, he can stay away from this big tournament to be held in his country.
Pant is undergoing treatment at Kokilaben Hospital in Mumbai. After the accident, he was first kept in Roorkee’s Saksham Hospital and then in Dehradun’s Max Hospital. Now Pant’s ligament surgery will be done in Mumbai only, he has been airlifted from Dehradun two days back.
Pant’s surgery will depend on how many days he will not be able to play international cricket, but it is certain that he will be away for the next five-six months.
Due to Pant’s injury, not only Team India, but also Delhi Capitals have suffered a big blow. Pant may be out of the series against Australia in February-March. Apart from this, he is likely to stay away from the 16th season of IPL as well.
If Pant does not recover in five months and Team India reaches the final of the ICC Test Championship, then he may stay away from the title match to be held in June. After that, if it takes more time for his recovery, then he can stay away from Asia Cup and World Cup as well.
