Six-hitting has now become a trend as every other batsman tries to play aerial shots to get maximum value for their efforts. Some of the players like Chris Gayle and Shahid Afridi have had this love affair with a six-hitting even before T20 cricket took the centre stage in world cricket. 1) Chris Gayle:

 

The Universe Boss is undoubtedly the greatest six hitter in the history of cricket. Hitting sixes seem easier as compared to taking singles for him. The Universe Boss can win matches on his own on any given day. Gayle, who has played 462 games across formats for his country, has 534 sixes to his name – the most by a batsman in international cricket.

2) Shahid Afridi:

 

“Boom Boom” Afridi is one of the most deadliest six hitters to have ever played the game. He has a knack of hitting sixes which makes him one of the most deadliest hitters from Pakistan. The leg-spinning all-rounder, whose career spanned for almost two decades, has played 524 matches for Pakistan and has over 11000 runs. Besides, Afridi also has 476 sixes to his name – the second-best by a batsman in international cricket.

3) Rohit Sharma:

Popularly known as “Hitman” Rohit Sharma is one of the most aggressive openers going around. He has made it a habit to hit sixes for fun. The Mumbai-born batsman is one of the significant contributors to India’s recent success and has a happy knack of hitting sixes. Rohit has represented the Men in Blues in 354 matches hitting 404 sixes to occupy the fourth spot in the list of the batsmen with most sixes in international cricket.

4) Brendon McCullum:

 

Often termed as one of the best hitters of all time, the former New Zealand captain has earned a name for himself when it comes to hitting the big sixes. McCullum was one of the fiercest hitters of the modern-day game. During his 14-year long career, the wicket-keeper-batsman has played 432 matches for his country hitting 398 over-boundaries in total. Currently, McCullum is third in the list of batsmen with most sixes in international cricket.

5) MS Dhoni:

 

Despite being known as “Captain Cool”, MS Dhoni is one of the biggest six hitters of all time. The former Indian skipper MS Dhoni occupies the fifth spot in the list of batsmen with most sixes in international cricket across the three formats of the game. Dhoni, who has represented India in 538 matches over 15 years, has struck 359 sixes in his overall career.
