The (Women’s Premier League) WPL 2026 season promises to be the most competitive yet, following a high-stakes Mega Auction held in New Delhi on Thursday, November 27, 2025.
With a full squad overhaul permitted, all five franchises engaged in intense bidding wars for WPL 2026, reshaping their squads for the upcoming tournament, which is confirmed to start on January 9, 2026, in fastest-format across Navi Mumbai and Vadodara.
The WPL 2026 auction’s biggest headlines revolved around the star all-rounders and seasoned captains. UP Warriorz, holding the largest purse, made the biggest splash, successfully retaining India’s premier all-rounder, Deepti Sharma, for a staggering ₹3.2 crore using the Right-to-Match (RTM) card. She became the costliest Indian player of the day.
Mumbai Indians, the defending champions, also reinforced their line-up, bagging New Zealand star Amelia Kerr for a monumental ₹3 crore.
