In the midst of the ongoing T20I series against Afghanistan, all eyes were on Team India’s captain, Rohit Sharma, especially after facing two consecutive ducks. During the third match in Bengaluru, Rohit Sharma took the field by opening the batting, hitting what seemed like a four.
However, umpire Virender Sharma deemed it a ‘bye,’ prompting a humorous exchange between the skipper and the official. Rohit, captured by the stump mic, quipped, “Arey Viru, pehle wala Thigh pad Diya tha kya? Itna bada bat laga hai. Ek toh idhar 2 zero ho gaya hain” (Are Viru, you gave it leg byes? It hit the bat, man. I already have 2 zeros to my name).

Having won the toss, Rohit Sharma elected to bat in the third and final T20I of the series, held at M Chinnaswamy Stadium. With India leading the series 2-0, the team aimed to secure a clean sweep before the much-anticipated T20 World Cup, scheduled later in the year in the West Indies and the United States.
In preparation for the World Cup, India made three changes to their lineup, bringing in Sanju Samson, Avesh Khan, and Kuldeep Yadav, while Jitesh Sharma, Arshdeep Singh, and Axar Patel made way. The match held significance as the last T20I for India before the global tournament, adding an extra layer of importance to the proceedings.
As the Men in Blue aimed for a series sweep, Rohit Sharma’s performance remained under scrutiny, hoping to break free from the string of low scores. With a blend of on-field action and off-field banter, the third T20I in Bengaluru promised excitement and anticipation, setting the stage for India’s final T20 challenge before the World Cup campaign kicks off.
