The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Friday announced the Indian team for the ODI and Test matches against the West Indies. IPL stars Rituraj Gaikwad and Yashasvi Jaiswal have been given a place in the team. At the same time, Cheteshwar Pujara has been dropped from the Test team due to his poor performance in the WTC.
At the same time, Abhimanyu Easwaran, who performed well in the home series, and Mumbai’s dashing batsman Sarfaraz Khan have been ignored once again.

Cricket fans are commenting on the selection of BCCI that only players who have performed brilliantly in IPL have been given a chance in the team. However, there are three IPL stars who could have been given a chance in the Indian Test team.
India’s fast bowling attack looks extremely weak for the Test series against the West Indies. Jasprit Bumrah is still recovering from injury while Mohammed Shami has been rested. Umesh Yadav has also been dropped.
1. ARSHDEEP SINGH
Left arm fast bowler Arshdeep Singh was ignored by the BCCI. Playing for Punjab Kings (PKBS) in IPL 2023, Arshdeep took 17 wickets in 14 matches. He can swing the ball both ways. Arshdeep is currently playing for Kent in the County Championship.
2. KULDEEP YADAV
Kuldeep was not selected for the World Test Championship final as well as for the Border-Gavaskar series played before that. However, Kuldeep Yadav could also be selected in the Test team for the West Indies tour. Because, slow spinners get help on Caribbean pitches.
Picking wrist spinners in Tests is a strategy that teams rarely follow nowadays, but Kuldeep has proved to be a match-winner in this format. Has taken 10 wickets in IPL 2023 for Delhi Capitals at an economy rate of 7.37.
3. RINKU SINGH
Rinku Singh might be emerging as one of the best finishers in the T20I format but his potential in red ball cricket cannot be underestimated. Rinku averages 59.89 in 40 first-class matches, with 7 centuries to his credit. He also has an impressive strike rate of 70.88 and has done exceptionally well in the recent editions of the Ranji Trophy.
